202X: The Genesis Run Halo floated in a sea of endless noir. Purple hair suspended, moving like a ghost. Her red eyes stared up in to the infinite darkness above her. A silver bodysuit clung to the curves of her avatar. She smiled to herself.
All Ive done in the net since I first jacked in and I still have this old photorez avatar.
The gridlines of the net began to form on the horizon. They swept towards her from the darkness. As they neared she watched the Pittsburgh grid form out of the dark. Icons designed to resemble corporations, banks, jails, emergency services, every location with a landline. The avatars came next, all the thousands
HelicaseHelio and I were always sitting on the stairs, chatting about the lamina and occasionally making snide remarks about ribosomes. There wasn't much for us to do. Our job was to simply be, and let the RNA scribble down the letters on our foreheads when they came around every once in a while. Helio was a G, I was a C. It wasn't exactly fulfilling, I suppose.
